Canet d’en Berenguer is a fascinating little seaside town. Situated to the north of Sagunto on the Mediterranean coast, just a short distance from the city of Valencia, it is the perfect place for a little wander and some chill out time.

Now, to be honest, there isn’t a terrific amount to see and do, but if you want to wind down, head to the marina. There you can see a vast array of boats, and look for the fish swimming in the water, but be sure you don’t miss the wonderful artwork on the harbour walls.

Whoever thought of this artistic marvel was a genius. This in itself is reason enough to visit Canet d’en Berenguer. Sharks, sea monsters, deep sea divers and cartoon characters galore will keep you entertained as you wander up and down the walls. There are some pretty nice views along the coast too, and from the top of the walls it is clear to see just what a gorgeous beach the town has to offer for the summer months.

Look away from the sea and you can’t miss the impressive lighthouse. Sadly it is not open to visitors. It was built back in 1904, but quite why they put this guardian of the seas 300m inland among the orange groves, we will probably never discover!

So, take some time to preview the wonderful paintings before putting Canet d’en Berenguer into your SatNav and finding out more for yourself.
